Dakar 2016: First Stage Cancellation
News

Today bad weather was forecast for the first Dakar Rally stage, especially at the route's last sector of the special that would bring the competitors from Rosario to Villa Carlos Paz.

After various reconsiderations, delaying the starting time several times between 7:00 and 10:00AM local time, Amaury Sport Organisation finally took the decision to cancel today's special for safety reasons.

All the competitors converged to the Villa Carlos Paz bivouac via paved roads. Yamalube Yamaha Official Rally Team's Hélder Rodrigues and Alessandro Botturi and Yamalube Yamaha Junior Rally Team's Adrien Van Beveren and Xavier De Soultrait arrived in the paddock rained on but safe, with their WR450F Rally units in good shape.

Tomorrow the four Yamaha riders will continue the Dakar route as originally planned, starting with the second stage that will lead them from Villa Carlos Paz to Termas de Río Hondo.
