Mixed Weekend For Coghlan and the YZF-R1M at Misano
  | | STK1000 SAN MARINO - ROUND 8 | | Marco Simoncelli, San Marino | STK1000 | Race Report - 21/06/2015 | | Mixed Weekend For Coghlan and the YZF-R1M at Misano | Kev Coghlan (MRS Yamaha) was a challenger for the win in the Superstock 100 FIM Cup race at Misano until a minor technical issue dropped him from potential winner to fifth place. After qualifying fifth on Saturday Coghlan was in the leading mix for the first ten laps of the race today, holding a position behind the leader and waiting for his chance to pass in the final laps. The majority of the 15-lap race was proof that the recent improvements made on the new YZF-R1M had worked well in race conditions, with Coghlan looking controlled and comfortable in the front group. The Briton finished top Yamaha rider today, only 4.388 seconds from the win, and he scored 11 valuable championship points. He maintained his fifth place ranking in the championship, with two rounds of the series left to run after a long summer break. MRS Yamaha team regular Florian Marino was unable to compete at Misano after a big crash in practice worsening his existing left forearm injury.
Behind Coghlan, Jeremy Guarnoni (Team Trasimeno Yamaha) finished a strong sixth and Christoffer Bergman (MG Competition Yamaha) took seventh place. There now follows a long summer break for the Superstock classes, with the next round not taking place until September 20th, as Jerez in Spain. | | "We were strong there, the strongest we have been all year. I managed to make a couple of moves up to second place. It did not feel like I was much stronger than the leader, but I though I could just sit there until the last lap and make a move into turn 14, as I was strong into there. That was the plan, but then I was slowed down by some difficulties while shifting gear. It was not to be today but we have a break now and we can move things forward a little bit more. The bike is really not far off the pace. It's strong, especially in corner entry. I feel I can choose my lines a little bit more than the others and with the electronics we are getting a bit closer every race. We are moving in the right direction." | | | | Adrian Morillas – MRS Yamaha Team Manager "Kev said he had a minor problem, but we are still very pleased with today's performance. The bike has improved a lot over the last two races and we are now at the level of our main competitor that won the race. This means the level of the Yamaha is good enough to win races. We will go out to try and win the last two of the season after the summer break. Florian has a problem now with his forearm that stopped him from riding but he will have time to come back fully fit at Jerez." | | | Marco Simoncelli, San Marino 21/06/2015 | | | race I | 1 | Lorenzo Savadori | Aprilia | ITA | 24'31.034 | 2 | Raffaele De Rosa | Ducati | ITA | 0'00.589 | 3 | Roberto Tamburini | BMW | ITA | 0'00.826 | 4 | Kevin Calia | Aprilia | ITA | 0'00.926 | 5 | Kev Coghlan | Yamaha | GBR | 0'04.388 | 6 | Jeremy Guarnoni | Yamaha | FRA | 0'06.232 | 7 | Christoffer Bergman | Yamaha | SWE | 0'11.016 | 8 | Ondrej Jezek | Ducati | CZE | 0'13.844 | 9 | Bryan Staring | Kawasaki | AUS | 0'16.119 | 10 | Fabio Massei | Ducati | ITA | 0'23.807 | 11 | Luca Marconi | Yamaha | ITA | 0'24.720 | 12 | Marc Moser | Ducati | DE | 0'25.914 | 13 | Matthieu Lussiana | BMW | FRA | 0'26.223 | 14 | David McFadden | Suzuki | ZAF | 0'30.395 | 15 | Robert Muresan | BMW | ROM | 0'31.244 | | Rider Standings | After Race 8 of 8 | | 1. | Lorenzo Savadori | Aprilia | ITA | 140 | 2. | Roberto Tamburini | BMW | ITA | 106 | 3. | Raffaele De Rosa | Ducati | ITA | 85 | 4. | Ondrej Jezek | Ducati | CZE | 74 | 5. | Kev Coghlan | Yamaha | GBR | 72 | 6. | Jeremy Guarnoni | Yamaha | FRA | 55 | 7. | Kevin Calia | Aprilia | ITA | 43 | 8. | Fabio Massei | Ducati | ITA | 41 | 9. | Bryan Staring | Kawasaki | AUS | 39 | 10. | Christoffer Bergman | Yamaha | SWE | 32 | 11. | Florian Marino | Yamaha | FRA | 23 | 12. | Tony Coveña | Ducati | NLD | 21 | 13. | Sylvain Barrier | Yamaha | FRA | 17 | 14. | Luca Salvadori | Ducati | ITA | 16 | 15. | Marc Moser | Ducati | DE | 15 | 16. | Luca Marconi | Yamaha | ITA | 14 | 25. | Michele Magnoni | Yamaha | ITA | 2 | 29. | Danny De Boer | Yamaha | NLD | 0 | | | | | Circuit Length: 4226 Weather: Dry | No standings found! | | | | | | |
