Renaux shining strong on Kemea YZ125

The French teenager has taken results of second, fourth, fourth and first on the Kemea YZ125 since joining the Belgian set-up in the winter. He is making good progress through the support structure that Yamaha Motor Europe have installed to bring promising talent through the important race series' EMX125, EMX250 and into Grand Prix.
"We knew from last year that Maxime is a very good rider and from there on we gave him the best possible support and it is working," commented Yamaha Motor Europe MX Manager Erik Eggens. "Maxime has a lot of talent and a very good team around him and that is something we aim towards. We understand well that he can be one of the top guys and he is already showing that potential having just turned fifteen. If he continues on this path then I expect him to get better in the near future."
Renaux currently sits second in the championship at his first attempt with names like Jorge Prado, Josiah Natzke and Conrad Mewse all fighting for success. At Matterley Basin last weekend Zach Pichon - son of former 250cc World Champion and AMA 250SX Champion Mickael - was another rider in the EMX125 gate and armed with a YZ125.
"His victory was great," commented Eggens, reflecting on a dominant first moto win by Renaux in England. "What he showed in the first race was perfect and in the second he had a bad start and had to come from mid-pack. It was not an easy moto and he did a fantastic job. He was smart enough to not jump on the yellow flags and in the end that was the key to winning the race."
"After the penalty from Mewse I won the race, which is extra nice, especially for the championship," '959' said. "I was 19 points behind at one stage and now I'm heading into my home race five points behind the leader. I really look forward going to Villars, I like the track and the extra support from the fans will give me extra motivation."
Round five of seven will take the EMX125 championship to Villars sous Ecot this weekend for perhaps the biggest race of Renaux's career to-date in front of (now) expectant partisan fans. | | | |
