| | BSB UNITED KINGDOM - ROUND 3 | | Oulton Park | BSB | Other - 29/04/2015 | | Milwaukee Yamaha aiming high for Oulton Park | The Milwaukee Yamaha team arrive in Cheshire this weekend (2/3/4 May) for the third round of the MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship season and both Josh Brookes and Broc Parkes are feeling confident following last Friday's test at Oulton Park.
Brookes topped the times at the official test, lapping under his own circuit record at Oulton Park in preparation for this weekend. The Australian has had a strong start to his campaign with three podium finishes from the opening four races on the new YZF-R1 and is aiming for more this weekend.
Parkes experienced Oulton Park for the first time at the official test, improving throughout the sessions as he got accustomed to the track ahead of his first races on the 2.69-mile circuit. Parkes is now ready to build on his experiences after hitting the top ten at the previous round of Brands Hatch as he aims to close down his rivals. | | "This weekend at Oulton Park is going to be really close. The test last week was really positive for us and I feel that we have a good starting point for this weekend. I expect there is going to be the usual suspects going for the wins on Monday; Ellison has a good history of being fast at Oulton Park and so does Stuart Easton. Then you look at Kiyo who has had good results here in the past, then I hold the lap record, so that puts me into the mix and then obviously there is Shakey.
"It's going to be a good four or five-way battle at the front for the wins, but we are confident we can make some more improvements and then it is down to me, so there is a bit in myself too." | | | | | | "We had a good test at Oulton Park which was important for me before the races this weekend. The first time I went out on circuit I really enjoyed it. Everyone warned me before the test about how hard this circuit is to learn because of its characteristics, but it has a great flowing nature and undulations which I really liked.
"I am hoping now we can keep building up through the weekend ready for the races on Monday. The test was a good start so now we need to keep working hard this weekend." | | | | | | Circuit Length: 4307 | No standings found! | | | Yamaha Starts Hunt for Glory in the Superbike IDM International German Championship | After more than seven months of waiting, Yamaha is ready for action in the 2015 Superbike*IDM International German Championship, starting with the first round at the Lausitzring this weekend.
The Superbike field, consisting of eleven top-notch riders and six different manufacturers, will compete over eight rounds for the honour to be crowned Superbike*IDM champion. The majority of the racing action will take place in Germany with the exceptions of Circuit Zolder in Belgium, the Hungaroring in Hungary and the TT Circuit in Assen, the Netherlands.
As a part of its new road racing strategy, Yamaha Motor Europe aims to claim the IDM title by officially supporting Team Yamaha MGM (Michael Galinski Motorsport), headed by Team Manager Michael Galinski.
Team Yamaha MGM's riders Max Neukirchner and Damian Cudlin were key protagonists in the previous Superbike IDM seasons, the former being last year's Superbike IDM champion runner-up and the latter having claimed third place in the 2013 championship standings.
The German and Australian's experience in the Superbike IDM class showed during the pre-season testing when their strong performances aboard the all-new YZF-R1M set high expectations for the coming season. Today they finished the final three-day test at the EuroSpeedway Lausitz, ahead of this weekend's race at the same track, in second and third place respectively.
Neukirchner and Cudlin have both booked multiple podium finishes at the Lausitzring in previous seasons and look forward to putting their bikes to the test during Sunday's race. The 4,3 km long track opened in 2000 with the 2-mile Superspeedway making up its framework and is said to be one of the most advanced racing and entertainment centers in Europe. Though it has ten different asphalt track variations, fans don't have to worry about missing out on any of the racing spectacle; from the impressive main grandstand they can overlook almost the entire track and won't miss any of the action. | | | "Our first race will be here at the Lausitzring. We had some very good tests during the winter and I feel really well prepared for the upcoming season. We look very much forward to the first race and expect to get as much championship points as possible. The Superbike*IDM season consists of eight rounds. I wouldn't say this is a long season, but nevertheless we can't afford any mistakes. I think we're well prepared to chase for race wins. The most important for me and I think for Yamaha too is that we deliver very strong results. For the start it's important to stay on the bike and collect vital points for the championship. Afterwards we'll see how we can improve during the rest of the season.
"Our goal with Yamaha is to be German Superbike Champion. That's a very big challenge, because the other contenders in the Superbike*IDM will be strong. We're two pretty strong riders and we are perfectly prepared, so I assume we can play a big role in the championship fight 2015." | | | | | | | "We're here at Lausitzring and I'm really excited to get the season underway. The offseason feels like it's been very long, because I signed the deal so early at the end of last year and I've been waiting for this ever since. It feels like a very long time of waiting, but the date is finally here. I'm excited to see what we can do together in the team. We're in really good shape, the testing went well and I expect these next three days of testing also to give us a chance to have a good base setting for the weekend. I couldn't be happier at the moment.
"We need to win like every year, but this time I think we have a genuine chance to do that. Of course it's not going to be easy, because we have a lot of strong contenders this year for the championship. I think there're going to be five or six guys threatening for the title and I think we are one of those guys. I just hope to get the season of to a good start. I really like the Lausitzring. The last time I raced here was in 2013 and I won both times, so I've good history with the circuit. Hopefully if we get our season off to a good start we can build a momentum for the rest of the races." | | | Michael Galinski – Team Manager "I think that this year Superbike*IDM has three strong contenders; the fellow competitors will be very strong. Our new bike has shown really good potential during the tests, which were highly promising. Of course we ride to be champion, but for this the constancy is an indispensable factor. We need to be at least on the podium in every race and of course as high as possible. I really wish for this and I'm convinced this is a realistic goal, but we also need to work hard for this. The bike is brand new and I think we'll improve during the season, because we can try a lot of new things while the competitors already know their material, which was pretty strong last year. I'm sure they didn't become worse, so it will be a tough challenge, but I'm looking forward to the season." | | | |
